To: You, an esteemed member of The Palmer Preservation Society
From: Mr. Patrick Jacobson, President of The Palmer Preservation Society
Date: 10/17/20, 11:59pm
Dearest Palmerite,
We wish we could be the bearer of better news, but alas, as we’ve long feared, our battle to save the historic Palmer Hotel has been lost. The loveliest twin brick buildings in the city will fall at the end of this month on, appropriately enough, October 31st, Halloween Day.
But let us not focus on that dreary day that approaches inevitability, and do instead what we do best—party.
As a dues-paying member of The Palmer’s Preservation Society, you are hereby cordially invited to the one last great hurrah at The Palmer.
Where: The Palmer Hotel
When: October 30th, 2020, 10pm until... ?
Password for entry: Joseph’s Leap
The night will include:
Musical acts throughout the building
Hors d'oeuvres
Magic
Tours provided by former staff members
A special rooftop midnight séance
Secret surprises
Please dress accordingly. Masks preferred. As a security measure we will also be collecting your phones upon entry, only to be returned upon exit. And with that, please keep in mind: This invitation must be treated with the utmost discretion, as what we’re doing won’t entirely be “legal.”
Sincerely,
The Palmer Preservation Society
Mr. Patrick Jacobson, President
